COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Maryland returned to the XFINITY Center main court Friday evening looking to build momentum in Big Ten play against visiting UCLA. Both teams entered with 11–4 overall records, with the Terrapins seeking a response after their straight-set loss to top-ranked Nebraska. Maryland’s young attack had already helped deliver a five-set victory over Iowa, offering encouragement ahead of another conference test. The Bruins arrived with a 2–2 Big Ten record and an offense led by Maggie Li.

Maryland established itself early through Brooklynne Brass, whose eight first-set kills helped the Terps take the opener. A four-point run created a 10–6 advantage, and Maryland held off UCLA’s late pressure before Brass finished the set, 25–23.

The Bruins responded in the second. Maryland’s early 3–1 lead disappeared as UCLA moved ahead and maintained its advantage, taking the set 25–20 to level the match.
