Tanner Brown’s 57-yard field goal brought Louisville within six, before DC suffered another setback at quarterback. Bean left with a left shoulder injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the game, bringing EJ Perry into the action.

A 40-yard completion from Rogers to Tarik Black helped Louisville move into scoring position again. Brown finished the possession with a 38-yard field goal, reducing DC’s lead to 16–13 and setting up a fourth quarter with little separating the teams.

50 Cent was the halftime performer for the UFL United Bowl at Audi Field

DC Defenders quarterback E.J. The extra point moved Louisville ahead 20–16, forcing the Defenders to chase the game.

The pressure increased on DC’s next possession. Dantzler intercepted Perry and returned the ball into Defenders territory. Two plays later, James Robinson powered through tackles for a 16-yard touchdown. Louisville had scored 20 unanswered points and now led 27–16.

DC still had time to respond. McCrane delivered a 60-yard field goal, worth four points under UFL rules, to bring the Defenders within a touchdown. A defensive stop then gave Perry and the offense another chance.

The Defenders advanced deep into Louisville territory, putting the tying touchdown within reach. On fourth down, however, Perry’s pass toward Cornell Powell fell incomplete. The Kings took possession and ran out the remaining time, securing a 27–20 victory and their first UFL championship.

Wheeler was named United Bowl MVP after rushing for 81 yards and scoring the go-ahead touchdown. For DC, a return to the championship game ended just short of another title. For Louisville, the final defensive stand completed a season sweep of the Defenders and a championship-winning inaugural campaign.

For more of Daniel Sperling’s work, visit his page at: Daniel Sperling Photography

Final score and scoring

DC Defenders 20–27 Louisville Kings

DC Defenders: Xazavian Valladay — 51-yard rushing touchdown.
