WASHINGTON, D.C. — Catholic University welcomed Lycoming College to Franny Murray Court on Friday evening looking to build on consecutive victories and bring its Landmark Conference record back to three wins and three losses.

The Cardinals had followed a four-set win over Hunter on October 10 with a straight-set victory against Goucher three days later. After narrow five-set losses to Moravian and Wilkes earlier in the month, those results offered an opportunity to rebuild momentum heading into a busy weekend at home.

Catholic entered Friday’s match at 7–14 overall and 2–3 in conference play. Lycoming arrived at 3–16 and was still searching for its first Landmark victory after three conference matches. With Catholic also scheduled to host Juniata and Emory the following day, the meeting opened a demanding stretch of three matches in two days.

The Warriors made the stronger start, racing to a 9–0 lead in the opening set before Juliette Cummings put Catholic on the board. The Cardinals were unable to recover from that early deficit, and Lycoming took the set 25–13.

Catholic found a response in the second. A kill from Julia Raab brought the teams level at 17–17 before the Cardinals moved ahead. Lycoming cut the margin to one, but Catholic regrouped following a timeout and secured the set 25–22, with Maddie Wilkey and Julia Turchiano contributing late kills.

The third set again required Catholic to recover from an early deficit as Lycoming claimed the first three points. The Cardinals worked their way back, and the teams were tied at 14–14 before Catholic gained the advantage. Kate Kozlowski delivered the final point in a 25–21 set victory.

Catholic then completed the comeback in the fourth. After further exchanges of the lead, the Cardinals pulled away, with Laci Freitas finishing the match with a kill to secure a 25–17 win.

The closing set was Catholic’s most efficient offensively, producing 16 kills and a .324 hitting percentage. Across the match, the Cardinals finished with 47 kills, eight service aces and 64 digs.

Raab led Catholic with 12 kills. Kozlowski added seven while hitting .462, and Turchiano and Cummings also contributed seven kills apiece. Anna Maria Carella recorded 26 assists, while Chloe Mamrosch added 15 assists and three aces.

Alejandra Garcia anchored the back-row defense with 17 digs, supported by 12 each from Freitas and Marin Stensrud.

For Lycoming, Emi Wenger finished with 12 kills, while Elizabeth Mayer added nine. Haley Balgavy recorded 19 assists, and Lara DeFreitas led the Warriors with 14 digs.

The victory lifted Catholic to 8–14 overall and 3–3 in the Landmark Conference, marking its third consecutive win. After a difficult opening set, the Cardinals recovered to take the next three and close the evening with another conference victory on their home court.
