RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond Kickers and Sarasota Paradise met for the first time on July 3 at City Stadium, with neither side able to find the breakthrough in a 0–0 USL League One draw. The matchup paired one of the league’s established clubs with Sarasota, playing its first professional season in League One.
The visitors arrived in Richmond carrying some momentum, having won three of their previous five league matches, while the Kickers were looking to halt a four-game losing streak. That contrast gave the match an added edge, with Richmond searching for a response at home and Sarasota looking to continue building credibility in its inaugural campaign.
The matchup also carried a familiar connection. Sarasota forward Emiliano Terzaghi spent six seasons with Richmond from 2020 through 2025 before joining Paradise in June, bringing a familiar face back to City Stadium for the clubs’ first meeting.
Richmond generated several of the more dangerous moments early despite Sarasota controlling more of the possession. The Kickers recorded the only two shots on target of the opening half, but Sarasota’s defense held firm and the teams went into halftime scoreless.
The second half remained tight, with both teams competing through the summer heat and neither able to turn possession or pressure into a decisive goal. Richmond continued looking for openings in front of its home crowd, while Sarasota stayed organized and protected the clean sheet through the final whistle.
For Richmond, the point stopped a four-match league losing streak but still left the Kickers searching for the attacking breakthrough needed to turn a close contest into a win. For Sarasota, the draw added another result to an inaugural professional season in which the club has been testing itself against established League One opposition.
The scoreline stayed unchanged through the final whistle, leaving both sides with a point from a physical, tightly contested first meeting at City Stadium.
