FC Cincinnati gave its home supporters a Halloween celebration to remember, securing a fifth consecutive postseason appearance with a determined performance against Philadelphia Union at TQL Stadium. With playoff positioning still unsettled heading toward Decision Day, the Orange and Blue found their breakthrough through the bench and protected it with a resilient defensive effort.

Ayoub Jabbari’s 70th-minute finish delivered a 1–0 victory in front of 24,013 fans, lifting Cincinnati to 46 points and bringing the club within one point of Philadelphia. The result marked Cincinnati’s third win in four matches and ended a three-match losing streak against the Union.

Philadelphia created the stronger opportunities during the opening half. Roman Celentano denied an early Bruno Damiani header and later stopped an effort from Francis Westfield, helping Cincinnati withstand sustained pressure. The Union finished the half with a 10–2 advantage in shots, but the teams entered the break scoreless.

Pat Noonan introduced Evander at halftime as Cincinnati searched for a greater attacking threat. Philadelphia remained dangerous, with Damiani heading against the crossbar in the 53rd minute before Celentano saved another effort from Quinn Sullivan.

The decisive moment came after Jabbari entered in the 64th minute. Evander worked his way into shooting position and forced Andre Blake into a diving save, but Jabbari reacted to the rebound and finished from close range. His third MLS goal of the season turned a tightly contested afternoon in Cincinnati’s favor.

Philadelphia committed players forward in pursuit of an equalizer, with Nathan Harriel heading wide late in the match. Cincinnati held its advantage through the final whistle, and Celentano finished with six saves and his fourth clean sheet of the season.

With its postseason place secured, Cincinnati will conclude the regular season at home against Nashville SC on Saturday, November 7, at 4 p.m. Final playoff seeding will be determined on Decision Day, giving the Orange and Blue another meaningful afternoon ahead at TQL Stadium.
